The Making of a New Brand
Its been only three short months since I closed the doors on my brand, Sass. It honestly feels more like three years. I’ve kept busy for sure, fundraising and creating for Relay for Life of Second Life, but also I dove back into my painting and daily art journaling, which has been so wonderfully soothing and restorative.
All this creativity breeds more creativity.
I started thinking along the lines of my gnomes, but creating an entire race of creatures that have their own little village/land and little houses and jobs. Think Smurfs. I wanted to take my time, creating, planning, going deep into all the things, rather than rushing to meet deadlines for events.
So, the little world called Honey Swamp was born.
I started creating a map of the village, stylized trees, bushes, flowers, the ground itself — I was creating it all from scratch, inspired by all those cutesy little app games we all love.
Anyone that knows me, knows that I’m constantly changing things and redoing things till I think its right. So these early images may not be what you see when I finally deem all of this viewable by the public. The map itself is pretty much set, but textures will inevitably change, the landscaping isn’t done, and I have lots of building to do.
Have no fear, I won’t make you wait till the entire village is finished, where’s the fun in that? My plans are to “open to the public” after I’ve got a couple characters done and setup, and some sort of shop center set up. I’m excited and taking my time, trying to enjoy the process. THIS is why we do what we do in Second Life, the joy of creating. I hope you all continue to follow my journey as it promises to be a fun one!
